Blog Hop

Welcome to the SG Blog Hop for June, if this is your first stop, you might like to start at the Scrapbook Generation blog and then hop through each link. Here is the list in case you get lost

Scrapbook Generation blog - http://scrapbookgeneration.blogspot.com/
Alisha - http://layoutaday.blogspot.com/ You Are Here

Each blog will share a project using one of the SG sketches as a starting point. You can find the sketches in their books and downloads in the SG store, and there is a free one every month in case you wanted to try it out.

For my Layout I used a page kit from Scrapbook Generations by Allison Davis. I scrap in order so when this challenge came about I was a little scared. I didn't want to jump to far ahead. Luckily I only had to jump ahead a few pages in my album. The kit called for 8 photos. 2-4x6 1 3x4 and
5- 2.5x2.5. I made my 3x4 into a 3x4.5, plus I added a 2.5x2.5. I was having a hard time with the colors of the layout but I did it anyway determined for it to "work".  I first followed the instructions, changed the title and came up with this:

But I it wasn't speaking to me, I was thrown from the purple in the photos. Plus it was celebrating Disney's 50th Birthday so I wanted more Gold. I shopped from my stash, redid the layout and came up with this:

What layout do you like more? I'm still on the fence. I think maybe the background paper is too Gold.

  2. Great LOs! I think I like the gold one best because it has a more grounded feel and draws the eye into the pictures more. It also adds warmth to your pages!
    TFS and great work!!

  3. I really like the gold background and think it complements the purple very nicely. You could always mute it by distressing it or misting it. Great work.

  4. I like the both, love the color scheme from the first but maybe the second is better with your photos ? I can't chose... Great job anyway !

  6. I like the redo version better, myself. I actually think the gold helps the purple. Aren't they opposite on the color wheel thing?? Or go together in some sort of design principal? All I know is they look pretty together. Such a pretty page.

  8. I think both layouts are very nice, but I have to say, the second one is my favorite. I love the bold background color and it makes your photos stand out really well. I also feel the pink and purple strips in the second are more complimentary to your color scheme in the photos. Great job! I also love using Allison's and Debbie's sketches. They are a great starting point.

  11. Lovely patterned papers you used and LOVE the photos you used on your double page layout! I'd vote for the first one.... I see that many are voting for the second one. For the first layout, I would spray some with mist and let the photos be the FOCAL attention grabbers! Love the sketch you used!

  33. I really like the first one, and then I saw the second one... I love the second one! The photos pop! What a lot of work for you! I redo things often, trying to improve. Wish I could think of those things ahead of time instead of after the fact, don't you?

  34. I really like the second one. The colors seem more like a celebration.

  35. I am with the crowd...I like the gold. I feel it calms down the blues

  36. I love how you changed up the color scheme. The second one turned out great. I also love your idea of challenging yourself.

  37. Love the second layout! I'm able to see the photos better with darker background paper and still appreciate the patterned papers while looking at these photos. Disney is full of bold colours, so your layout is colourful! It's amazing you went ahead and re-did a second layout just to compare and pick the best of two... that's awesome!

  40. I prefer the white background but I tend to like "white space" on my layouts. The gold background goes perfectly with your photos! Either way- you did a great job!
